On 14th February 2024, additional amounts were introduced in the transitional severe disability premium element for those who were entitled to it and who had also been entitled to other disability premiums/elements prior to migration. These extra amounts were payable immediately for claimants making a new claim for Universal Credit on or after 14th February. The DWP have now announced that they have started to make payments to claimants who had an existing award of Universal Credit before the rules came into place and still receive Universal Credit. Their current timetable is to complete this process by August 2025. Work is also ongoing to determine how to make payments to claimants who are eligible for these additional amounts but who are no longer entitled to Universal Credit.
