The transfer of existing Attendance Allowance claims to Pension Age Disability Payment for customers who live in Scotland began on 24 February 2025.
Customers living in Scotland who currently get Attendance Allowance from DWP do not need to take any action. Their claims will be transferred to Social Security Scotland from February 2025. DWP will send customers a letter when their claim has been selected for transfer. This letter will include the date of when the customers claim will be transferred to Social Security Scotland by.
Pension Age Disability Payment is a different benefit from DWP’s Attendance Allowance and is administered and paid by Social Security Scotland. It was initially introduced on 21 October 2024 when new claim applications became available for customers living in five local authority areas: Aberdeen City, Argyll and Bute, Highland, Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands.
