Refugees at Home looking to recruit more hosts in Aberdeen and the North East.

Please find attached a promotional poster for Refugees at Home, who are currently looking to recruit more hosts in Aberdeen and the North East.

Refugees at Home is a charity which connects those with a spare room in their home to refugees and people seeking asylum who are in need of somewhere to stay. Unfortunately, we are now at the stage in the North East where some people seeking asylum are receiving negative decisions on their claims, which means they will be required to leave the Home Office accommodation provided by Mears. They will not be eligible for homelessness assistance from the Local Authority, so some may resort to rough sleeping or sofa surfing.

Hosts via Refugees at Home can provide essential accommodation for people seeking asylum whilst they are reviewing their options with their immigration solicitor following a negative decision. Similar support may be required for those who have appealed a negative decision and are at the stage of being appeal right exhausted.

Further information about Refugees at Home can be found on their website.

Our ask of you is to please share the attached with your networks, friends and family members who may have a spare room which they might be willing to consider using to host someone seeking asylum with no other accommodation options. Any questions about applications or the process should be directed to Refugees at Home at info@refugeesathome.org.
