Supporting Information Stakeholder Event Tickets, Tue 6 May 2025 at 10:00 | Eventbrite
We are hosting events for professionals working in areas including Health, Social Care, Education and Third Sector who have a vital role to play in helping people they support get access to disability benefits. Or who may, as part of their role supporting clients, could be asked by Social Security Scotland to provide supporting information as part of a client’s disability application.
Collecting supporting information on behalf of clients is a key difference in how Social Security Scotland support clients applying for our disability benefits. It is particularly important for those clients who would be unable to gather this information on their own or may find doing so is a barrier to applying for a disability benefit. Providing the right level of supporting information, through the appropriate channels enables Social Security Scotland to process applications more quickly and accurately, leading to a better client experience.
We would like to invite you to sign up to a free online stakeholder information event where we will make sure both you and the people you support have all the relevant information you need about our supporting information process. During these events we will inform you;
- Why supporting information is needed to support an application
- Who can provide supporting information
- We will share examples of good practice
- Provide information on the end-to-end processes involved for NHS, Local Authority and Third Sector organisations when Supporting Information is requested by Social Security Scotland to support the client’s disability benefit application or review of an existing award.
- what support is available for organisations completing supporting information in support of a clients benefit application
Special Rules for Terminal Illness / BASRiS Stakeholder Event
Special Rules for Terminal Illness / BASRiS Event Tickets, Wed 7 May 2025 at 13:00 | Eventbrite
Scotland’s doctors and nurses have a vital role to play in helping terminally ill people get faster access to the maximum possible disability benefit payment.
Social Security Scotland can fast-track applications for disability benefits from terminally ill people once they have confirmation of the terminal diagnosis from a doctor or nurse involved in their diagnosis and/or care.
This event is for health professionals who support people who may be eligible for disability benefits under our fast-track Special Rules for Terminal Illness. The session will also be of interest to Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) completing the Benefits Assessment Under Special Rules in Scotland (BASRiS) form and Practice Managers who are in a position to feedback the information from the event to the appropriate people.
