User research opportunity – Social Security Scotland

In May 2023, Social Security Scotland held online information events for stakeholders supporting people who will have their disability benefit transferred from the UK Government to Social Security Scotland.

At these events we shared:

  • The process for those transferring from Personal Independence Payment to Adult Disability Payment

and

  • The process for those transferring from Disability Living Allowance to Adult Disability Payment who were born after 8 April 1948 who;
  • Report a change of circumstance to their disability or health condition;
  • Are in receipt of an award of Disability Living Allowance that is due to end or be renewed after the launch of Adulty Disability Payment; or
  • Have asked to have their award moved to Adult Disability Payment

A number of questions were asked about clients receiving Disability Living Allowance who do not meet the above criteria. At the time we were unable to provide any information, as this process was yet to be determined.

To support with the development of this process, User Research colleagues within the Decision Making Team at Social Security Scotland are looking to speak with:

  • Recipients (or recent recipients who’ve been transferred to Personal Independence Payment) of Disability Living Allowance resident in Scotland
  • Carers responsible for those eligible for Disability Living Allowance – particularly those who are appointees for the recipient

The research appointments can be held either remotely or in person and are anticipated to last approximately 1 hour.

If you can assist the User Research Team with this by offering this opportunity to the client’s you support please contact them by email –  dmur@gov.scot
